It's not for rent or anything - it's my parent's residence - but it is so fantastic that it looks like something out of Architectural Digest, so I thought I'd give a tour.
My photos won't do it true justice, but I'm going to give it a whirl anyways.
Today I'll show you the living and dining rooms.
My parents are very brave inviting the four of us down (at least 3 of us with grimy fingers) to luxuriate on their white sofa.
Behind the sofa you'll see a granite counter - that's for a bar table that you can sit and watch TV at, or set out appetizers for guests while entertaining.
Behind it is a giant mirror above a wet bar, so the fan image you see is actually just a reflection.
This is a better shot of the bar area.
This is with your back to the wet bar, facing the TV.
I'm sorry this one is over-exposed, but I wanted to show the glass wall (the sunlight shining into the camera made the foreground image too dark, so I had to ramp it up a bit)Yup, these windows retract completely into the left section of wall, so that you can have a completely open room to the outside.
This is the view from the living room bar area, looking into the dining room. The table comfortably seats ten, so this isn't a small piece of furniture by any means, but it's so perfectly proportionate to the space.
I tried to get a shot of the ceilings in as well.
A contrasting paint colour in the coffers, and every section has crown moulding!
The chandelier is a piece of art.
Just the other side of the half wall on the right is their front door.
Light streams in through the door as well as the transom above it - and I LOVE that console table!
Check back tomorrow and I'll show the unbelievable kitchen!
Have a great one!
Lovely! Being able to open those glass doors would be wonderful! I can feel the ocean breeze. (I've no idea if the ocean is actually out those doors, but I'm going to pretend it is.) :o)
ReplyDeleteThat bar counter by the couch is very interesting. Is that something that was already there or did they have that done? It's a good and useful idea and I've not seen it done that way before. But it appears as though it's 'built in.' Just wondered if it was part of the house or they commissioned it. Either way, it's quite clever.
Thanks to you and them for sharing. And how lovely for you to have a respite from the winter. ;o) Looking forward to that fabulous kitchen!

They actually only bought the home a few years ago - it was a builder's - so as you can imagine, he spared no expense when it came to details (they get cut-rate deals I'm sure). The bar was there when they bought it (built in) - but it's something I've never seen before either. Very functional and beautiful.
DeleteThanks for checking out the blog - the kitchen is to-die-for!
Hi Shelly,
ReplyDeleteJust saw the kitchen. WOW!! Gorgeous. They must love living there. I am sure you're right and the builder's house is probably the nicest one on the block, too. Lucky them. So nice of them to share. I'm going to remember that bar idea. I think it's great. Thanks. ~ Jane
