I know you've seen me make fabric covered cork boards before, but this one is a bit different.
This one is for me.
This one needs to have a small pocket in it as well.
This one is going to be made inside a metal frame, on glass.
Why?
Because that's what I had lying around.
Here is a beautiful Monet (poster) that has been stuffed in a corner of the furnace room since I got married.
Because this is a metal frame (custom), I had to make sure that the cork fit within/inside it;
meaning that the groove that holds the picture and picture glass is not deep enough to fit the cork as well.
So I had to place the cork inside of that edge.
This is where I began to make the pocket.
I centred my fabric on top of the cork.
I then I ran a small bead of hot glue along the bottom edge of the cork tile.
This will make the fabric tuck in to the glass.
From here, I cut a second piece of fabric and folded it in half (sorry I forgot to take a photo).
I laid that piece of fabric along the bottom of the glass section - folded edge near the cork, raw edges at the bottom.
Hot glue bottom and sides into place.
Flip glass over, and hot glue all fabric edges to the back.
Perhaps the below photo shows it better;
The top section within the picture frame is now the cork board.
There's a little indent where we adhered the fabric to the edge of the cork, then there's the pocket section beneath that.
All of the fabric has been hot glued on the back, and is reinforced because it is tucked within the frame as well.
I love how this turned out!
Even without anything on it, it makes a fantastic piece of art!
