I remember being so proud of carving it myself, and checking on it each day to watch it age.

I had to attempt it with my girls.
We had a couple of apples left over from our pie making, and they were getting a bit 'ripe', so they were our victims.
Don't worry, she's not going as fast as it seems and the knife is relatively dull.
You really don't need a sharp knife when the apples are soft.
After carving we did soak them in a lemon juice and salt bath to help hold-off the browning.
They're coming!
I had to post this before we had the complete transformation because I didn't want to miss apple season.
They take quite a while to age. (?)
Funny, when I have them sitting out in a basket to be eaten, they seem to over-ripen overnight?

Have a great one!
My grandma used to have some apple face dolls and I had nearly forgot about them when my sister reminded me, now I'm going to have my teenager make them with me..lol thanks for the reminder on how to do it. Diana
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how this one little thing has left a lasting memory with both of us. Have fun recreating that same memory with your teen!
