As part of my participation in the Face of Pink Ink Contest 2014, I have the opportunity, and privilege, of offering some insight into its winners.
I met Shaunacey at the Pink Ink workshop she mentions in her interview, and let me tell you, she is as vibrant and vivacious as her photos suggest. A truly lovely woman and stellar example of what the Face of Pink Ink found in all of their participants.
Name: Shaunacey
Age: 33

Who are you? I'm a busy mom, wife, sister, friend, daughter and employee.
Why did you enter the Face of Pink Ink 2014? My girlfriend and I signed up after attending a workshop with Jen and Rita. They were both so sweet and knowledgeable and my friend and I thought the contest would make a great girl's day out! We had our hair and makeup done, got pretty pictures taken and had tons of fun. We later went shopping and had dinner and some drinks. I never expected to win, that was a much added bonus to an already amazing adventure.
What is your definition of beauty? For me, it's more about accepting yourself, being kind to yourself and being good to others. It's about being real, honest and genuine.

Name a cause that is close to your heart and why. I work with children and have a daughter or my own so anything that involves children is close to my heart. The holidays always serve as a reminder how fortunate we are and because of that, I feel as though it's our responsibility to do what we can to help those who might need it. It's easy to give back and anyone can give as little or a much as they can. From donating a can of food at the Foodbank, sponsoring a family for a holiday program, or having money taken off of your pay for a local charity.
In winning the Face of Pink Ink 2014, you will be seen in publications and speaking events – what message or image do you hope to portray? Well, I'm not much a public speaker and I still find it strange to picture myself as a role model, but then again, I guess I've been that since I became a mom anyways. The easiest way for me to think of what image I want to portray is to think how I want my daughter to see me and what I want her to learn from me. I hope that she, and others, will learn from me the importance of kindness, of being genuine, of loving yourself and others. I also hope that she learns that beauty is about so much more than what's on the outside BUT, sometimes looking great means feeling great and it's okay to feel beautiful.
How has the ‘ride’ been so far? It's been fun and strange. Having my picture taken and walking down a runway is definitely out of my comfort zone and not really something I would have ever envisioned myself doing BUT it's been great. It's boosted my confidence and really made me feel 'pretty'. It also forced me to take some much needed time for myself, being a busy working mom, that's not something I've done much since having my daughter and it was just what I needed. Also, I've met some amazing and wonderful women. Sometimes, getting thrown out of your comfort zone is just what you need.
What is the name of your business/es? I'm a Social Worker in Child Welfare by day. I also blog semi-regularly (easier said than done these days) at Confessions of a Frumpy Mommy and I recently started to sell Jamberry nail wraps as something fun (you know, in all my spare time).
What products/services do you provide? Jamberry nail wraps are heat-activated nail wraps that go over your natural nails. I sell them as something to do on the side but I mostly signed up because I love the product and knew my friends and family would feel the same.
The blog is more of an outlet for me. Sometimes fashion-focused (my casual version of fashion) and sometimes about whatever I feel like.
