The Man's Advent Calendar

Do men count down to Christmas?
Like actually count down the days in anticipation of gifts?

I know women count down - but I think we do it to know how many days we have left to get all the Christmas shopping done, the wrapping, making/buying treats for teachers, coaches, friends, neighbourhood parties and cookie exchanges, groceries for "THE" day etc.
Our countdown sounds more like this (in our heads of course) - "Oh $4!T, I only have 8 more days to get gifts for the cousins and then prep the treats for school and bake cookies for the exchange!"

There's one man I know that counts down.
He'll deny it - but he SO looks forward to Christmas dinner each year that he practically skips to our house on Christmas Eve.

Yup Dad (aka Grandad) - we all know you're a big kid at heart!

My friend Julie sent me this idea last year and I've been sitting on it until I could make it up for him.

A "Man's Advent Calendar".

You take a case of his favourite beverage,

Wrap it prettily - but in a manly colour of course;

Then mark down the 24 days until Christmas

Deliver it to your special "Manly-Man" on December 1st with a small exacto knife to cut the days open, and let the festivities begin!

I just needed to make sure it worked Dad and Hubby wanted to make sure the beer wasn't skunky.

We'll give it to you on December 2nd so you won't even notice that one day is missing.  lol

I'm pretty sure a woman's advent would look really similar to this one, except in a smaller Rheo Thompson Mint Smoothie sized box.
Those would certainly help dull the countdown frenzy in my mind?  (hint, hint)

As a sidetone - I want to publicly acknowledge my Dad.
He has set up a scholarship fund at his old high school - Guelph Collegiate - so that each year the top male or female athlete will get $5,000 for University!
I can't release the name of this year's recipient (I don't have his permission) - but needless to say, I'm sure he's pretty pleased and I'm feeling pretty proud of Grandad.

I'm commemorating the first ever F & K Clarke Athletic Scholarship here on the blog...

Actually, you're right Dad - F'nK Clarke might be the wrong order. lol
Cheers to the K & F Clarke Scholarship fund!  (Hubby says it wasn't skunky after all)

 Have a great one!
