I have been meaning to do this for years.
It's free, it's easy, it really makes a cute fall display - but I never once got around to it?
This year I made it a scavenger hunt for the girls.
I gave them a bag and challenged them and their friends to fill it with little acorns from the schoolyard.
They did it and then I had no excuse NOT to finish up…
I didn't do any special roasting technique for this.
Actually, all I did was spread them out on a tray and leave them in the oven after we were finished baking a batch of cookies.
Turn the oven off and just leave them in there to dry out. You don't want to put acorns from the yard straight into a display because they will rot and mold.
Putting them in the oven just dries them out and you can see that they've all turned brown.
I decided to fill my candle votives with them.
Cute right?
Easy, free and cute.
I love projects like this!
Have a great one!
