Cleaning the stairs

This isn't an exciting post, but one that I am excited to share:
"How to clean your stairs".
Actually, this might better be titled "How to clean pet hair from carpet".

We have two orange tabbies and Lacey - our Bernese Mountain dog.
She's only just turning a year old, so up until the last month or so we haven't had to deal with much shedding because she still had her puppy coat.

I don't know what happened in the last month to get her shedding - but she is.
Everywhere.

(One of the very few downsides of having pets.)

Memphis-Belle was a Golden retriever so she shed as well, but our carpets are beige, so tufts of her fur were only noticeable on the floors, not the carpets.  These black clumps everywhere are a bit shocking - aren't animals supposed to grow fur coming into Fall?

My parents were coming over for dinner yesterday, so I thought I'd better tidy a bit - just to prove that their grandchildren were in relatively capable hands.

I vacuumed the stairs and got most of the black fur off of them.

Relatively clean right - you don't see any glaringly obvious bits do you?

I read an article somewhere that said that after you vacuum you should wet a latex glove and run your hand over the vacuumed part.
Sure enough, the article was correct and there was still hair/fur that the vacuum didn't get.

I personally found that the glove worked just as well without being wet, so that part is up to you.

Just gently wipe the glove over the carpeted area and watch as the pet hair you didn't see accumulates.

This was the hair that was left on just one step!

This is the damage from 6 steps - I vacuumed beforehand - honestly!

I stand here shocked and appalled - and secretly gloriously happy - because now I know the stairs are truly clean.
