Nine years ago today I battled with my veil through a warm October wedding.
We had pumpkins and caramel apples.
Serenading (via a lip-sync my bridesmaids and I did to Natalie Cole's "LOVE"), and dancing.
We filled the 4 foot flower vases with alcohol and everyone toasted our special day.
We had ice cream cones at midnight.
We had fun.
On our anniversary, 9 years later, I can honestly say that the fun continues.
I haven't looked at my wedding photos in years, but I knew that I typed up my wedding speech and put it inside one of them.
Since it still holds true, I'll share it with you here:
"To my gorgeous husband;
I want you to know that I wished for you...
I wished that I would find someone tall and handsome.
A man with bright blue eyes and a smile that lights a room.
Someone intelligent and ambitious, but with a gentle patience to balance my temper.
I wished that he would have country charm and city aspirations.
That he would work hard, but would also be eager to play hard.
I wanted a jock with a brain - a football build and a childlike sense of humour.
I hoped for someone loyal and kind, funny and charismatic.
Strong when I needed him, and weak when he needed me.
Affectionate, but not needy. Smart, but not condescending.
And you know he had to be an animal lover.
I hoped that I would find someone who would love me as much as I loved him.
I think this is every girl's wish - the ultimate man.
Today I married him.
I guess wishing on stars and blowing out candles really does pay off."
So, despite those few times when we have secretly given each other the 'one finger salute' as the other walked away, I really do know how lucky I am....
'cause only one of us is getting better looking with age.
HITYTTILY?
Happy Anniversary!
Have a great one!
