Fruit Fondue

… or you might have a version of it that you call "French Cream"?

My Mom used to make this - I think in part to motivate us to eat more fruit - and it's deeee-lish!

Paula Deen makes a version of this (mine is only slightly different) - and you know Paula doesn't skip out on flavour for calories.

You will need:

8 oz package of cream cheese
500ml (small container) of whipping/heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup icing sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar

Directions:

Whip together whipping cream and granulated sugar until soft peaks form.
In another dish, soften the cream cheese and mix together with vanilla and icing sugar until smooth.
Fold whipped mixture into cream cheese one.
Serve with cut fruit and kebab sticks.

My favourite fruit to dip are bananas (it tastes like a banana cream pie) and bosc pears.
But then, I have a pretty large sweet tooth.

You could cut the sugar in this, or maybe even use a vanilla yogurt instead of cream cheese - but I won't vouch for the yumminess of anything other than this recipe.

Just a reminder to enter the Curiosity Box Giveaway.

Have a great one!

  1. I do that one quite a bit. Also great as a no bake cheesecake. Also try a lower fat sour cream with a pinch of salt to taste (negates the sour), a tablespoon or two of sugar to taste and a dash of vanilla. Same thing, less calories and processed food. It tastes like cheesecake also.

    1. I find this too thin to work as a cheesecake - do you add less whipping cream?
