Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes

While I had everything out to clean my hairbrushes the other day, I decided it was time to tackle my makeup brushes as well.

The only makeup I wear is a bit of eyeshadow, eyeliner and lip gloss - so I'm not sure how these got as dirty as they were?

I also have to confess, I have a full set of makeup brushes and I have no idea what any of them are for.  I use these few if and when I go to the great lengths of getting dolled up.

Use a tiny dot of baby shampoo (because it has clarifying properties that will remove residue)

Wet the brush and then rub into a lather.

This part is pretty gratifying because you can see the makeup coming out in your hand.

Rinse with warm water and then I put the brush handle between my two palms and spin it back and forth - like you were playing with those long-haired troll dolls, or starting a fire.

That should get most of the excess water out.

I did use my eyebrow tool to comb out the bristles slightly.
Let air dry and you're good to go next morning!

Have a great one!

  1. Love it!! You can also use Dawn dishwasher soap - it is safe enough to use on the animals that had the misfortune of being in an oil spill! Dawn antibacterial is one of the cleaning soaps that Pink Ink uses!
