Chippie Cake - aka - Hello Dollies

I know everyone has a recipe like this, but this one is my Mom's version and it's AMAZING.

I think the actual name of this bar is "Hello Dollies", but we've called it "Chippie Cake" since we were small because it has all those chocolate "chippies" in it. lol

You will need:
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups graham wafer crumbs
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chipits (or "chippies")
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
optional - 1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a 9x13" baking dish (I used a 9x9" square), melt butter in the oven.

Sprinkle graham crumbs over the butter and mix together.

Press into pan.
Pour sweetened condensed milk over graham crust.
Sprinkle evenly with chippies.
Now this is where I'm going to rant a little...
My grocery store, and most in  my area, don't carry this:
In fact, they carry a dry, puny crappy version.  In order to get the soft, substantial and delicious Baker's Coconut, I have to drive to the States.

To the STATES!

A 45+ minute drive for coconut!

Come on Loblaws... aren't we Canadians worth more than this dried up crap below?
Okay, back to the recipe;
Sprinkle evenly with coconut and then walnuts (if you wish).

Bake 25 - 30 minutes, or until lightly browned.
I'd like to show you a square cut out, but I baked this at 3pm, and by 5pm the entire thing was GONE.

So I'll borrow an image:

It really does taste as good as it looks!
Homemade with love. In other words, I licked the spoon and kept using it.
  Have a great one!
