Patio Artichokes

With having our barbecue get-together last week, I was trying to make our patio look like the ones I pin on Pinterest or see in magazines.

I have a few projects that I'm working on to get me there on a tight budget - this is the second;
my artichokes.

Patio artichokes, so as not to be confused with indoor artichokes.

I found these cuties at HomeSense:

Artichoke shaped, which I wanted, but I wasn't so keen on the colour or antique effect.

I wanted something to coordinate with what I already have, so I taped them off to leave the base as-was;

Then a cote of cherry red spray paint.

Once that was dry I decided it was too red.
I did want an antique look after all.

Hey, it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind right?
Especially if she's doing the work herself!

So I lightly misted over the artichokes with an oil-rubbed bronze spray paint.
I wanted the red to show through, just not glaringly so.

The oil rubbed bronze actually gave them a bit of a metallic sheen that catches the light - so that was an added bonus I didn't see coming.

Now to coordinate with my cushions:

Still something missing?

Come back and check out my concrete side tables, the wood wall clock and….

the rest will be a surprise.

OH, and this wasn't enough to write an entire post about - but I did do a small update to my garage lockers!

Check out the monograms!

Have a great one!
