Networking and storing business cards

In an effort to get the name of this blog out to the world, I've been attending a lot of networking events of late.

While you might not guess that I'm an introvert - I am - so attending these meetings/luncheons has been really eye-opening.

I had no idea how many entrepreneurs there were locally.
I wrongly assumed that most of the businesses around here were franchised out of the US or someplace.  (I know - franchise owners are entrepreneurs as well).

Still, I've met at least 100 people in various fields and offering both products and services that I'd like to keep track of -
If not for advertising purposes, then at least for me for when I "need" what they sell.

BUT

This means I have a purse FULL of business cards.

I needed some way to keep track of all of these cards and make notes on anyone that I've worked with, or would like to, or even just to jot a note about their business.

Enter my binder solution:

I know, a binder is ridiculous for business cards right?

Not if it's a cute mini-binder that is exactly business card sized!
(Forgive the paint on the manicure - I just put my hand in the shot so you could get an idea of size.)

I slipped a couple of my business cards in the front cover sleeve so I have them handy to give out, then I punched all of the cards I've received and put them inside.
On the back of some, I've put a small sticky with notes on the business that I'd like to remember.

Small, contained, alphabetical and portable.
I can carry it in my purse and it only takes up 3" of space.

Thank you Staples for carrying these little guys.

They're so cute, I'm wondering if I have anything else this small that could use its own little binder organizer?

Have a great one!

  1. I'm visiting from Between Naps on the Porch. I love this little business card holder. Thanks for telling us we can find it at Staples. As a crafter/cardmaker, my first thought was to use it to have small samples of the cardstock or patterned papers that I own. It would also be a great place to keep fabric or paint samples when working on a decorating project for our homes. So nice to have something portable. I've never seen this item before, but can't wait to pick up several. Thanks.

    1. I LOVE making cards - that's a great idea! Maybe set it up like a little wallpaper book with designer series paper and the coordinating colour stock in between each! Shoot, now I have to go buy more! Oh, and paint samples - would it be great to have a little portable binder with paint chips so you could coordinate accessories while shopping - GREAT ideas! Thank YOU so much for sharing!

  2. This is such a cool idea! Now, I can't do cute, because it's my husband who collects most of the business cards and they get left around on his desk. However, just having one place where all these cards are is terrific! Thanks for a brilliant idea. MMR

  3. I love this idea however my Staples looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for this mini binder. What is the brand and size so I can look it up online or do you have a link to share?

    1. I tried to find one online to send you a link, but couldn't find anything.
Mine was at my local Staples in a giant bin by the front door. The binder itself is branded "Staples" on the back and the upc code on the sticker is: 7 18103 20553 5 Hopefully that helps?
