Replacing lost game pieces

Another kid craft today - and this is one you can do for them and with them!

March Break + cold weather = indoor fun.

My two love games.

Card games, board games, video games - anything that they can win at and do the "Trash dance" to their losing parents.

With use, and messy kids, comes lost pieces.

I've got a quick and easy fix to get you back on the path to CandyLand!

Clothes pegs and pennies!

I think you can pick these up in the Dollarama.  I got mine at Michael's just because it was closer to home and 2 dozen came in at $3.

The Canadian Government has decided to abolish the penny, so I don't think I'm committing any treasonous act by using them as a craft supply?
First note (learned the hard way) - don't cut your clothes pins with a skilsaw.  They are just too small and fragile to handle the big blade - as you can see below.

Using a small hacksaw, cut the 'legs' off of the clothes pegs.
You could use these as game pieces as-is, but I wanted a bit sturdier base, so I hot glued a penny to the bottom of each one.

The kids can help you paint them up and draw faces on them, you could even add yarn hair if you wanted the piece to look exactly like you.

I'd shy away from using a flesh toned paint unless you are going to be very detailed in adding features.  You probably wouldn't want the little guy playing with soccer balls either.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. lol
Probably better that I just use a solid colour.

 It's game on!

Have a great one!
