Bathroom Reveal - Part 1

Do you have a room in your house that you "just can't get right"?

Something about the colour or the layout just isn't perfect?

The girls' bathroom is my scourge.
I have painted this room 4 times in the last 8 years…. and it still didn't seem right.

I had a professional decorator come in and choose a colour (lime green) which she thought would be fun in a kids bathroom.

Way too loud.

I tried to tone the green down a notch or two, but it came out looking like a moulding lemon.

Hideous.

I've added decals, changed up the towels and containers - NOTHING looked right.

So you can see what I mean - here's the before:

The green was pretty on the paint chip, but with the yellowish lights it's terrible!

The butterflies were just vinyl decals that I put up to take up some of the expanse of wall.

Really didn't help.

I decided I wasn't going to invest in new towels and bathmats for the room, so I had to find something that would work with the existing colour - including the shower curtain.

I decided on Benjamin Moore's Balboa Mist - a soft grey or maybe you'd call it greige?

Time for another paint job
I removed the towel bars and filled the holes so I could re-hang them in better spots.

You can see where the dogs on canvas came into play - a nice shot of Benjamin Moore's Peony Pink against the grey walls.

SOOOOOO much better!

I ended up re-doing all of the trim work as well since it had seen more than it's fair share of paint spills in the past.

Now everything is fresh and crisp and clean.

I'm absolutely loving the colour now.

I can change up the towels to a turquoise or a yellow or just about anything down the road - and the grey will still be a perfect fit.

Need to work on a window treatment.

There's something else missing though?

Part two of this cliffhanger tomorrow!

Have a great one!

    1. I'll be doing a post soon about our powder room makeover… I got a great deal on some grasscloth wallpaper and I think it's going to be gorgeous when it's all done (and reasonably priced - which is even better!)
