I was going to sit quietly and enjoy the new video game the girls are playing (which means relative peace and quiet for me) - but then I looked at my kitchen and the disaster it had become over the past two days of celebrating and decided I'd better tackle that.
If I'm going to work, I might as well take photos and see if maybe something becomes an "Aha!" moment for someone else.
Leftovers….
At this point you're probably so sick of turkey you never want to see it again.
BUT, you went to all that work to make a delicious meal and you don't want to waste all of that time and money you put into it.
Besides, a week or two from now you might crave turkey, but not the work involved.
I present:
Tupperware!!
I love these CrystalWave divided dishes. I couldn't find the large size (that I'm using here), but there is a lunch version here, or you could contact Lona directly and I'm sure she could hook you up with the big boys.
As you can tell, we had a LOT of leftovers;
This is a lot of space in your fridge or freezer if you package them all up independently.
BUT if you have a divided dish, you can keep your turkey and dressing from getting all soggy from the sweet potatoes and corn.
These dishes hold a LOT.
I'd say each container would easily do two meals.
And look how many dishes are no longer in use.
The before:
The after:
And they take up minimal room in the freezer!
Aha - you noticed I forgot the gravy?
Come on - this is a carnivorous family - we would NEVER forget the gravy.
Just pop out a couple/few cubes when you're ready for dinner and microwave!
Unlike regular ice cube trays, these come with a lid so that you can put things on top and not worry about the gravy getting freezer burn or smelling everything else up!

So, in a about a month's time I'll be able to serve a Holiday dinner without all of the Holiday work!
Have a great one!

I love those ice cube trays. I use them to freeze homemade baby food. :)
