Embossed Thank You Cards

I believe in Thank you cards.

I believe in teaching my girls to acknowledge gifts and/or acts of kindness with thank you cards.

I agree, that when you have to write a ton, it can be tedious - but I frame it for them by saying, "shopping for that gift may have been tedious as well".

So, this past weekend I sat down to make a batch of thank you cards.

I have people that sent gifts when we got Lacey, and Chloë had her birthday last weekend, so it was time to show our gratitude.

I just wanted to make little 3"x 3" cards.

Cut your cardstock at 2 7/8" (width).
 Then cut at 6" (length).

Folded in half this will give you an approximately 3" by 3" card - while still leaving room to fit it into an envelope.
This is the fun part!

I love embossing.

It's so easy, and so elegant.

Once you try it, you won't be able to stop.

Stamp your image onto the cardstock with Versamark and then use detail gold embossing powder.
Right now it's just a powder sitting on top of the card.

UNTIL…..

You bring out the "big guns" - or heat gun in this case.

Wave the heat gun over the embossing powder and watch as it melts into a shiny gold.
Add some white card stock to the inside of the card for your message.
I added a "Thanks" as well.
Done!

Easy, elegant, effective!
For a little extra zing - you could hold the cards together tightly and then mark the edges with a gold marker.
It ends up looking like you had your cards gilded.

A really nice touch.

Now you just have to jot your thank you's and get them in the mail!
The embossing powders are available in many colours, so I did do another clean and simple version for Chloë's birthday thank you's.

If you need any supplies to make your own, get in touch with Margaret here and she can hook you up!

Have a great one!
