In this house we have 4 iPads.
Excessive?
Over-indulgent?
Insane?
Yes.
But in our defense -
Hubby received one from work,
I won one through a Tupperware challenge and
I bought a used one for my Dad for Christmas, which he immediately upgraded to a new one, and re-gifted to my daughter.
The final one - well that was indulgent of me.
The one I had won was an iPad 1 and I really wanted the photo/video and WIFI capability of the iPad 4, so I upgraded as a Christmas gift to myself.
My "old" one went to my other daughter to keep the peace.
I don't think of it with a dollar value per se... I value them based on time;
These bad boys have bought me hours of no-arguing, hours of reading MY OWN books, hours of watching OUR OWN shows, hours of quiet road trips.
That's a lot of hours - well worth the investment in my eyes.
ANYWAYS...
With 4 iPads in the house we needed a place to dock them all.
Necessity is the mother of invention right?
Necessity and Pinterest are deadly...
I found this corner hutch for $35.
I took out the middle shelf.
I had a custom glass shelf built for the top.
After breaking said shelf, I had a second glass shelf made for the top.
I wall-papered the back.
I inserted a light into the top of it and
Voila!
Available for sale |
I won't lie and say that this came cheap.
I bought the hutch inexpensively, but the custom-cut glass shelf came in at $70... twice because we broke the first one. The wallpaper was $28 a roll and the light was another $10...
So roughly $213.
I'm sure I've seen docking stations online for less? (whoops!)
I really do learn things the "hard way" don't I?
