As you can see, the one on the right is a little worse for wear.
Playdough, craft paints and cookie baking had taken their toll.
I figured they couldn't look any worse no matter what I did right?
So I unscrewed the chair pad from the wood frame, un-stapled the fabric that was on there and then placed the foam and board upside down on the new fabric (to centre the pattern). I cut the fabric leaving about 3" of extra on all sides.
I stapled into place and
VOILA!
Total time: 1.5 hours
I found the material in the 'Discontinued/End of bolt' section of Calico Corners. It was on for $9 a yard and each chair used about 1/2 a yard (but only because of centering the pattern), so total cost for this project was $4.50 per chair! (plus staples).
Total cost: ~$18.00
It was too easy.It was super cheap.
It got me going....
I picked up a set of chairs at an Estate sale. They were from a kitchen set, but I didn't want to use them as a set.
So what began as this:

Please forgive the poor lighting. I was so excited to be done that I couldn't wait until the next morning to take the pictures. lol
Once I get started, I can't seem to stop!
More before and afters to come...
These are great! I used to be an avid HGTV and TLC watcher - home renos, repurposing...I had a list a mile long of projects - and bought random items...and they sat...and sat...and sat. So I am thrilled to see you doing this! Here's a thought - ever come out near Toronto? When you do, check out the hotel surplus clearinghouses - might make things more worth your while.
